Two years ago, his kiss left her reeling, but she pushed him away and they never spoke of it again.

Lena Andrews is bad at love, and has no intention of getting better at it.

Men are good for one thing, and love isn’t it.

She’s perfectly okay with finding happiness in her job as a comic book artist.

Yet, she can’t shake the memory of her coworker’s kiss.

Amos St. Clair has stayed the hell away from Lena Andrews for the last two years.

Work has filled his time and he’s on the cusp of making a name for himself. When an opportunity to complete a project that’s dear to Lena’s heart presents itself, Amos seizes the opportunity – even if it means being with the woman he’s avoided all this time.

Through their mutual passion for art and each other, their love blooms like a lotus flower out of a dark, muddy pool. But, is their love strong enough to withstand the challenges posed by the most important job of their careers?

BFF K’s Review of The Art of Us

The Art of Us is a breath of fresh air! It’s a unique, original story that exposes the reader to a whole new world through well developed and engaging characters. This is a story that should not be missed!

Lena is strong and independent. She’s reluctant to let others in or share any vulnerabilities that may expose her to unhappiness or heartbreak. Even when it comes to her co-worker and secret crush Amos.

Amos is drawn to Lena, but frustrated that she won’t give him the time of day! He patiently bides his time chipping away at her rough exterior. When he finds opportunities to deepen their relationship – he takes them!

The world of comics/manga/animation was a whole new ball game for me, but I loved it! I had so many questions, I requested an interview with the author! This book is about travel, opening yourself to new experiences and relationships, working hard and living a full life. Amos and Lena are a wonderful couple and their journey is incredibly fulfilling.

The Art of Us is full of surprises, some angst, a little steam, big heart and a whole lot of hope. You’ll fall in love with Amos right alongside Lena. I strongly recommend this unique and endearing story!

About the Author

Hilaria Alexander never thought she’d be a writer one day. Reader? Yes. Book hoarder? You betcha. Then, she started reading romance – that’s when she felt the need to write a story. Unfortunately, she didn’t listen to her gut, and talked herself out of it A MILLION TIMES. She finally gave up a few years ago, when the urge to write was stronger than self-doubt. She loves funny, sexy romances wrapped with a huge happily-ever-after bow at the end. Her inbox is always open if you want to chat about one of her books.

Review – On a Tuesday by Whitney G.

We met on a Tuesday.
Became best friends, then lovers, on a Tuesday.
And everything fell apart on a Tuesday…

Charlotte Taylor has three automatic strikes in my book: 1) She hates me. She also claims that I’m a “domineering jerk with a huge, overbearing ego.” (I do have something huge. It’s not my ego, though.) 2) She takes our mandatory tutoring sessions way too seriously. 3) She’s sexy as hell…And a virgin.

At least, those were her strikes before our study sessions started lasting longer than they were supposed to. Until one innocent kiss became a hundred dirty ones, and until she became the first woman I ever fell hard for.

Our future together after graduation was supposed to be set:
Professional football for me. Law school for her.

But she left me at the end of the semester with no explanation, and then she completely disappeared from my life.

Until tonight.

We met on a Tuesday.
Became everything, then nothing, on a Tuesday.
And now it’s seven years later, on a Tuesday…

Find it on Goodreads!

Guest Blogger MJ Review of On a Tuesday

Hey BFFs!  With all the cold temps and snow storms sweeping the nation, I’m staying in by the fire and reading during January! So, I’m catching up quickly on my to read list and have a good one to share with you.  This was my first book by author Whitney G.,“On A Tuesday.” This is the first stand-alone in her new One Week series.

The story is a second chance romance about two college sweethearts who barely got their love story started before they went their separate ways, and then are unexpectedly reunited years later.

It would be easy to fall into stereotypes with these characters and this story line, but both characters were dynamic and surprising at times.

Grayson is the school’s all-star senior quarterback bound for the NFL with a reputation as player off the field, too.  But, behind the image, there’s much more to him.  Charlotte is his opposite in every way, a reserved, serious prelaw student with a love for art.  She is closed off to relationships after a series of dating disasters, and Grayson seems like another in a long line of jerks she’s encountered.

In all these years at the same school, they have never crossed paths until they are thrown together as seniors, when Charlotte is assigned to tutor Grayson.  She is definitely not open to Grayson’s immediate flirtation, keeping their weekly Tuesday tutoring session all business. But, he is up to the challenge. It is not often that he has to chase a girl, and he’s sure this one is worth the wait.

I found myself completely charmed by Grayson’s relentless quest to get more than tutoring from Charlotte.  As I read, I was laughing and smiling at his efforts to win her over, as if he was sitting across the table from me on Tuesdays at the coffee shop.  Eventually, as their friendship develops, Charlotte is charmed too, and surprised to realize she may have misjudged Grayson. She lets him in slowly, and their relationship grows serious.  But, as quickly as it began, it is all abruptly over, with many unanswered questions, and the future they imagined together will seemingly never come to be.

I was cheering for them to find their way back together, though, when we catch up with them years later.  They are both professionally successful and leading their own lives.  But, it is hard for either of them to hide that they are both still very affected by their attraction and the unspoken, unfinished business between them.  Seeing each other again, they both wonder if they can bear to open the old wounds, face the past, and attempt to mend their broken hearts. And, if they do, can they move forward, together or apart?

In addition to great character development, I loved Whitney G’s writing style. She crafted very realistic, comfortable dialogue for the characters, and the story included entertaining believable supporting characters surrounding the main couple.  The pacing of the story was spot on.  The use of flashbacks and alternating perspective created the angsty story that slowly fills in the blanks, but keeps you guessing along with the characters about how it will all end!  I’m looking forward to more in this series!

Cheers!

Review – Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

Fangirl meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in this funny and poignant coming-of-age novel from New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren about two boys who fall in love in a writing class—one from a progressive family and the other from a conservative religious community.

Three years ago, Tanner Scott’s family relocated from California to Utah, a move that nudged the bisexual teen temporarily back into the closet. Now, with one semester of high school to go, and no obstacles between him and out-of-state college freedom, Tanner plans to coast through his remaining classes and clear out of Utah.

But when his best friend Autumn dares him to take Provo High’s prestigious Seminar—where honor roll students diligently toil to draft a book in a semester—Tanner can’t resist going against his better judgment and having a go, if only to prove to Autumn how silly the whole thing is. Writing a book in four months sounds simple. Four months is an eternity.

It turns out, Tanner is only partly right: four months is a long time. After all, it takes only one second for him to notice Sebastian Brother, the Mormon prodigy who sold his own Seminar novel the year before and who now mentors the class. And it takes less than a month for Tanner to fall completely in love with him.

BFF K’s Review of Autoboyography

Autoboyography is my most thought about and talked about book of the year! I absolutely can’t stop raving about it! Christina Lauren has delivered another incredible story. But, this one rises above even their usual brilliance. It is a sweet, smart, heartwarming and heartbreaking story of young love. But, it is also a captivating social commentary and thought provoking look into the lives and struggles of two not-straight young men growing up in areas where they can not truly be themselves.

Tanner is smart and sensitive. He is surrounded by a loving family and supported by good friends, but there are still parts of himself that he keeps hidden. Sebastian is also smart and caring, and similarly, he has grown up with a great deal of love and support. But, Sebastian is also prohibited from revealing who he truly is. The push and pull and angst-filled journey is exposed in a book within a book. It will grab your heart in a vice and squeeze it so so tightly!

I can’t describe how much I LOVE this book. I have told everyone who will listen how great it is. I’ve bought copies for friends and family. I love the written copy and the audio version. I warn you…I don’t believe you can not read this book and come out unscathed. It will carve it’s lines in your head and your heart and you’ll look at the world just a little differently when you’re done. Without a doubt, this is one of my Besties of 2017, worthy of a 6-rated review and you won’t regret a minute you spend with this compelling novel.

Review – Barreled Over by Jenna Sutton

Ready for another round?

Ava Grace Landy’s music career is humming along until a shakeup at her label jeopardizes her recording contract and curses her with the world’s worst boss. Determined to satisfy him, she partners with Trinity Distillery to access a larger male audience. To her surprise, she’s the one who’s satisfied—by none other than Jonah Beck, the gorgeous, yet gruff man behind the bourbon.

No doubt about it, bourbon runs in Beck’s blood. But it’s audacious Ava Grace who makes it run hot. When she signs on as the spokesperson for his craft distillery, he doesn’t plan on hoisting her onto an oak barrel and rocking the rickhouse. Though he’s convinced their lives don’t mix—like a terrible cocktail—he can’t keep his hands off the alluring country star.

Ava Grace and Beck try to keep their intoxicating relationship private, but the glare of her fame is too bright, revealing secrets they both want to remain hidden. With a spotlight shining on his tumultuous past, their future is at risk. Now they must decide if being together is worth sacrificing the career she loves and the company he’s poured his heart and soul into.

BFF K’s Review of Barreled Over

I think that Jenna Sutton is one of the most overlooked authors in the Romance genre! I have absolutely LOVED every book of hers that I’ve read. Her characters are delightful and well developed. Her stories are well written and emotionally charged. I smile and swoon and even tear up a little every time I get lost in one of her books. Barreled Over is another great example of her terrific work!

Ava Grace is a country music star, but she’s also a friend and a daughter and a really wonderful, down-to-earth woman. To appease the new leadership at her record label, she agrees to an endorsement deal with an up and coming bourbon company. Jonah Beck is one of the owners of Trinity Distillery and a good man with a fractured past. He is drawn to Ava Grace, but reluctant to pursue her until he just can’t resist anymore. Both characters are struggling with their pasts and trying to build solid futures. It ends up that they’re just about perfect for each other.

I enjoy a book where every character has likeable features. Since this is the start of a series, there are lots of new characters introduced and they’re all interesting and enjoyable. I loved Ava Grace and Beck and I can’t wait for the next book in the Trinity series! I recommend Barreled Over or any of the other great books by Jenna Sutton!

Fairy tales aren’t ever what they seem . . .

Tuesday Knight’s dream of Broadway stardom has flopped, leaving her unemployed and brokenhearted. Ready to quit kissing frogs and make her own happily-ever-after, she takes a job as a princess in Everland, Georgia’s historical amusement park.

Mayor Beau Marino lives an unenchanted existence-all work, no play-which is fine by him. After his marriage ended in disaster, the last thing he wants in his life is more drama. But Everland’s new free spirit has a talent for getting under his starched collar.

When the town’s beloved but bankrupt park might be shut down, Tuesday and Beau face a choice. Can they join forces, save the day-and each other? Or will their fierce battle of wills destroy any chance of a fairy-tale ending?

In the tradition of New York Times bestselling authors Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, and Marina Adair, comes the second book in Lia Riley’s Everland, Georgia series about two city sisters finding love in a small town.

BFF K’s Review of The Corner of Forever and Always

Pepper Knight is fresh out of law school and ready to make her mark as a legal professional. However, when she arrives for her new job in Everland, nothing is as she plans. And for the consummate planner, this is a problem. Also problematic are the sparks she feels for her next-door neighbor, the town veterinarian, Rhett Valentine.

Rhett has spent most of his life in Everland. He came back home from college to open his veterinary practice; much to the disappointment of his physician father who wanted him to follow in his footsteps. Rhett has spent years avoiding his father and creating his own life. But, that has left a little time for romance. Until pepper moved in next door.

Pepper is an uptight planner. She has her life in order until the bottom falls out. With no plan and no money, she’s forced to take any job she can find. And, the position she lands will leave you scratching your head and cracking up! She just needs to make a little money, get out of town and reorganize her life plan. She just doesn’t expect Rhett.

At first, I wasn’t sure what I thought of this book, it’s a little slow to start but the characters are so interesting and the setting is so unique that I soon found myself engrossed in their world. This book will not lead you to any earth-shattering secrets of the meaning of life. But, it will bring you joy and smiles and butterflies and happily ever after romance. I definitely recommend this series, especially the audio version of the book.

Review – It Happened on Love Street by Lia Riley

n the tradition of New York Times bestselling authors Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, and in-house author Marina Adair, comes the first in a new series by Lia Riley about two city sisters finding love in a small town.

The most romantic place she never wanted to be . . .

Pepper Knight moved to Everland, Georgia, as step one in her plan for a successful legal career. But after this big-city gal’s plans go awry, going home with her tail between her legs isn’t an option. So when the town vet-and her sexy new neighbor-offers Pepper a temporary dog-walking job, she jumps at the chance. No one needs to know that man’s best friend is her worst nightmare . . . or that Everland’s hot animal whisperer leaves her panting.

The last thing Rhett Valentine wants is to be the center of small-town gossip. After his first love left him at the altar, he’s been there, done that. These days, life is simple, just the way he likes it. But sultry southern nights get complicated once sparks fly between him and the knockout next door. When she proposes a sexy, secret fling-all the deliciousness and none of the prying neighbors-it seems too good to be true. And it is. Because Pepper’s determined to leave Love Street, and when she goes, she just might take his heart with her . . .

Review – Wild for You by Daisy Prescott

WILD FOR YOU by Daisy Prescott
(A Love With Altitude Novel, #3)

Read it for FREE on KindleUnlimited!

Cowboy fantasies. Oh boy, do I have them. I blame the shiny belt buckles and those chaps. Mother of pearl buttons, those chaps.

After getting dumped by my Not Future Husband, I’ve decided to spend the summer in Aspen exploring new adventures. First on the list is rugged, sexy rodeo champion Justin Garrison, who seems happy to accept the challenge.

What if I fall in love with the real man behind the fantasy?

*

Being the charming cowboy is an easy role to play. Whenever I’m on the back of a horse or riding a bull, everything’s simple, uncomplicated. Running my family’s ranch and trying to keep the past buried are a lot harder.

When my path crosses with a beautiful brunette at a rodeo, I’m not looking for more complications. Feisty Zoe Saragossa’s not a typical buckle bunny and I’m definitely not her type.

Can a city girl fall for a real cowboy?

Wild for You is a standalone, slow burn cowboy romance. It’s part of the Love with Altitude series of standalone romantic comedies set in Aspen, high in the Rocky Mountains.

Wild for You is the third book in the Love With Altitude standalone series. You can read the book for FREE on KindleUnlimited! Links for the previous books in the series are listed below.

BFF K’s Review of Wild for You

I’m in love with a new book boyfriend and he’s just swoony! He’s a cowboy – rugged, handsome, protective, hard working, loyal….but he’s also sweet, funny, charming and did I mention handsome? Justin Garrison is so much more than a shiny buckle and leather chaps. (But those don’t hurt either.) And, while I want to fight you to claim the spot as his #1 girl, more than that, I want you to read Wild for You and fall in love with him too!

When you fall hard for a book boyfriend, it’s really hard for the story’s heroine to live up to your high expectations. But, Zoe Saragossa does not disappoint. She’s kind and helpful, funny and quirky, cautious yet adventurous, smart and creative. She is worthy of the love of this exceptional hero.

This book is EVERYTHING! Winsome, funny and full of heart, you must read this city girl meets cowboy love story. You’ll find yourself head over spurs with everything about this charming and delightful, feel good story. It’s a slow burn with only a couple of steamy scenes, but it’s so delightful and fun you won’t even notice. I honestly LOL’d and highlighted tons of passages that made me laugh or ponder or swoon.

This is not an angst-filled, tearfest. Wild for You is straight-up, feel-good romance delivered with optimism and authenticity. It’s full of love and light and hope. It’s rocketing to the top of my 2017 Besties list and I’ll be recommending it everywhere!

Review – Dear Bridget, I Want You by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

AVAILABLE NOW

Amazon iBooks |  B&N |  Kobo  | Google Play  |  Amazon paperback

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

–Simon

BFF K’s Review of Dear Bridget, I Want You

Neither Bridget nor Simon are looking for a relationship. They’re certainly not looking for love. But, the tale weaved in Dear Bridget, I Want You proves that sometimes love will come looking for you and when you least expect it!

Bridget is a widow raising her young son and doing the best that she can. Simon is never supposed to be more than a tenant renting a room in their home. Neither believes there can be more. Each are closed off for their own reasons until an unexpected exchange of late night love notes shifts their outlooks on the future.

Simon and Bridget have many expected and unexpected challenges to deal with and overcome. One in particular is a twist I didn’t see coming and it only adds to the excitement of the story. Bridget and Simon are great characters and their growth is fun to experience!

Dear Bridget, I Want You is a sweet and sentimental story about taking a second chance at love when the opportunity presents itself. This book is about strong characters who only get better when they give in to the love (and lust) they feel. You’ll fall in love with Bridget right along with Simon and Simon….this dirty-talking, big-loving Brit will win your heart and melt your panties! You will never regret adding this charming story to your TBR!

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes a sexy, new standalone contemporary romance in her Fusion Series, THE BEAUTY OF US, released August 22, 2017! Grab your copy today and get to know Trevor and Riley!

New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby delivers another sizzling novel in her delectable and sexy Fusion series.

Riley Gibson is over the moon at the prospect of having her restaurant, Seduction, on the Best Bites TV network. This could be the big break she’s been waiting for. But the idea of having an in-house show on a regular basis is a whole other matter. Their lives would be turned upside down, and convincing Mia, her best friend and head chef of Seduction, that having cameras in her kitchen every day is a good idea is daunting. Still, Riley knows it’s an opportunity she can’t afford to pass on. And when she meets Trevor Cooper, the show’s executive producer, she’s stunned by their intense chemistry.

Trevor’s sole intention is to persuade Riley to allow Best Bites TV to do a show on her restaurant. But when he walks into Riley’s office, he stops dead in his tracks. The professional, aloof woman on the phone is incredibly beautiful and funny. But can he convince her that he’s interested in Riley for himself? Or is he using the undeniable pull between them to persuade her to agree to his offer?

BFF K’s Review of The Beauty of Us

Riley is fed up! She’s exhausted by the trolls she’s met in the online dating world. She has high standards, but believes she deserves to find a man who will rise to her expectations. It is refreshing to read a heroine who is confident in herself and her abilities. She doesn’t need a man to complete her or make her feel whole. Riley wants a partner in life; she’s just not sure where to find him.

Lucky for her, Trevor walks into her life when she never expected him. He shows up at Seduction to film a new show centered around the women and their restaurant. There is an instant attraction between Trevor and Riley. He makes it his mission to prove that there are good men in the world and to show Riley just how she deserves to be treated.

The Beauty of Us is a story about strong characters who know what they want and deserve and rejoice when they find it. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable read and one that contemporary romance readers will fall in love with. This is a great continuation in the Fusion Series, but each book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. This series should definitely be on your TBR if you love strong and successful characters, a little steam and several HEA’s! And, Sebastian York narrates the audio, so you know it’s aural magic! Audiobook is a GREAT way to enjoy this series!

~TREVOR~

“So, THIS WAS a good date,” Riley says later as I drive her home. She rode to work with Addie so I could take her home after our date.

“I’m glad you approve,” I reply, and kiss the back of her hand. “Now, I won’t be calling or texting for three days.”

“Why?”

“Because that’s how it’s done.” I sigh and shrug, as if to say, What can I do? Riley chuckles.

“Well, then I’ll text the girls ‘I hate this guy,’ and then you’ll text and I’ll be all, ‘Never mind. He just texted.’”

“Yes, I believe you’re familiar with how this works.”

“Well,” she says. “I’m not really much of a drama girl. You should just go ahead and call or text whenever you want to.”

“Really? You’re not one for drama? I seem to remember someone barging into my apartment last night, yelling at me, because her date didn’t go well.”

I’m only human, Trevor,” she says with a smile. “I never claimed to be perfect.”

I laugh as she points out her driveway and I pull in, then escort her up to her door.

“I had fun,” she says.

“You sound surprised.”

“Pleasantly surprised,” she says. “Do you want to come in?”

“yes,” I reply, and cage her in against the door. “But I’m not going to.”

She swallows hard. “You aren’t?”

“No.” I kiss her forehead.

“Why not?” It’s a whisper now.

“Because this is the first date,” I remind her, and kiss her cheek. “So I’m going to be a gentleman and say good night right here on your porch.”

“Well, damn.”

I grin and nudge her face up to mine, and let myself sink into her, our lips tangled. She fists her hands in my shirt at my sides, holding on tight, and giving back as good as she gets. She lifts up higher on her toes and presses her breasts to my chest, and fuck me, it’s all I can do not to scoop her up., take her inside, and fuck her into the mattress.

Instead, I pull back gently, regretfully.

“Thank you for tonight,” I murmur, and watch with humor as she struggles to open her eyes. The attraction is definitely not one-sided.

“Okay,” she says, and touches her lips with her fingertips. “I mean, you’re welcome. And thank you.” She smiles, opens her door, and slips inside.

And just like that, she’s gone.

But I can faintly hear her say, “Holy shit,” on the other side of the door.

No, she’s not immune to me either.

About the Author

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

Review – Beard in Mind by Penny Reid

BEARD IN MIND BT BANNER.jpg

Beard in Mind, an all new standalone in the bestselling, romantic comedy Winston Brothers Series by Penny Reid, is available NOW!

BIM-cover (2)

All is fair in love and auto maintenance.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.

Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone’s favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston’s charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever.

She mumbles to herself, but won’t respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won’t shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words.

Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life.

The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora’s box of complexity—exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity—and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.

BFF K’s Review of Beard in Mind

Penny Reid has done it again. She’s delivered an insightful, heart-felt, unique, emotional, up-lifting, romantic story. Beard in Mind is a return to my favorite Smokey Mountain family, their lives and loves. There’s no other like the Winston Family! Beard in Mind is a terrific continuation of this family saga, but also written so that it can be read as a stand-alone too.

Shelly Sullivan and Beau Winston don’t go together. They’re complete opposites in so many ways. Where Beau is affable, charming and outgoing, Shelly is introverted, standoffish and brutally blunt. Beau doesn’t understand her or why he is so attracted to her. Shelly only knows that she sees all of the kindness and goodness that’s inside of Beau and she wants desperately to be better for him in so many ways.

Shelly is not a traditional romance heroine in any way; she’s even better. She’s struggling with many aspects of her life. Shelly is smart, honest, hard-working and trying to be better every day. She wants to be better for her family and better for herself. Her character is nuanced and deep. And, a perfect match for Beau.

Beau’s searching for the same kind of happiness and partnership that his siblings have found. He sees his older siblings and his twin brother content and happy and he wants so badly to find that fulfillment in his own life. Beau discovers that everyone’s satisfaction with life and love is unique to them and their circumstances. And, he wants to find his HEA with Shelly.

If you’re willing to try something a little different and characters that break out of the traditional romance molds in the very best ways….you absolutely need to read Beard in Mind! This book will be on the top of my mind for weeks/years to come.

Excerpt from Beard in Mind

She’d taken the sofa, in her own house, and given me the bed. That didn’t make a lick of sense.

I crouched next to her, threading my fingers into the silky hair at her temples. “Honey.”

“Mmm.”

I bent to whisper, “Shelly.”

“Hmm?”

“I’m going to carry you to your bed. I’ll take the sofa.”

“Mmm.”

I grinned at her soft noises, at the untroubled expression on her face, and how her brow—even in sleep—still looked regal and stern.

Sliding my arms under her legs and shoulder, I picked her up. And, unfortunately, that woke her up.

She jerked in my arms. “What are you doing?”

“I’m taking you to the bed.”

“Don’t do that.”

“I don’t mind, I’ll take the sofa.” Our mouths were just inches apart, and hers was distracting.

She squirmed. “Put me down.”

Sighing unhappily, I did. I set her on her feet next to the couch. The blanket pooled at her feet and I stepped back to give her some space. It was dark, but I could see her just fine, and that meant I had to force my eyes to remain above her neck. The woman was wearing two pathetic scraps of fabric as pajamas. A thin little tank top and shorts. That’s it.

I set my jaw and turned to the side, waiting for her to walk past.

“Where are you?”

I glanced at her and realized she couldn’t see at all. She didn’t have a hand out, but the way her eyes were moving about the room gave away her blindness.

“I’m here.” I didn’t touch her, because if I did, I wouldn’t want to stop.

Shelly turned her head in my direction and took a deep breath. Still she didn’t reach for me. I didn’t know the specifics of what to expect after her Friday session, but I recalled Dr. West saying something about Shelly doing self-guided ERP exercises over this week.

“Can you see?” She licked her lips, her voice sandpapery. “Because I can’t see at all. It’s so dark.”

“I can see.” Unbidden, my eyes dropped to her body, to the swell of her breasts, the panel of bare stomach, the curve of her hips. Pinpricks of heat raised over my skin and I curled my hands into fists.

She shuffled forward and I caught her before she bumped into me, setting my hands gently at her waist.

“Let me take you to your room.” My voice was rough, for obvious reasons.

Saying nothing, she brought her hand to my forearm, her body gently colliding with mine. And then her hand on my arm slid up my bicep to my shoulder.

“Shelly.” I was running out of breath.

“I like this.”

“What?”

“Touching you.”

Oh fuck.

I held still and endured her hands moving over my body, down the front of my shirt, stopping at the hem, then pushing it up.

“Take this off.”

I did. I pulled the T-shirt over my head and let it drop to the floor.

We stood there, facing each other in the dark, not touching. Despite the session on Friday and the progress that had been made, I realized she wasn’t quite there yet. Dr. West was right, Friday was just a step, the first step. Shelly wasn’t able to initiate contact. Not yet.

Her hands balled into fists and she swayed forward, her breath struggling little puffs.

If anything was going to happen tonight, I had to initiate it. I had to be the one to touch first.

God, how I wanted her. How I wanted her above me, beneath me, surrounding me. But how could I?

“I know why I hesitate,” her voice was breathless, “but why do you hesitate?”

“Lots of reasons.”

“Give me one.”

“I don’t want to you use you.”

“I wish you would.”

That pulled a laugh from me, just a small relief from the mounting tension. My eyes moved over her body, an undeniable impulse to devour the sight of her, her legs, stomach, chest, then up her neck to her lips.

“You asked me on Saturday if sex was a big deal for me, or if it was you. The answer is both.”

She held very still, and I got the sense she was holding her breath, straining to listen.

“You are a big deal to me. I don’t want a fling. I don’t want a flirtation. I want promises.”

“What can I promise you?”

That you’ll love me. That I’ll be your priority.

She shifted her weight from foot to foot. A spike of anxiety that she might leave me like this had me acting without forethought. I lifted my hands to her waist again and immediately, her fingertips skimmed over skin of my lower stomach in response, making my muscles tense in hot anticipation. She grew more assertive as she caressed my sides, abdomen, ribs, chest, shoulders, and then back down.

Shelly stepped closer, a hint of thrilling contact between her breasts and my torso, and all the words and worries melted from my mind, died on my tongue, suffocated by the feel of her body, and the possibility of this moment.

Her finger hooked in the waistband of my jeans. “Take these off.” Her hand turned, her fingers and palm cupping me over my zipper.

Instinctively, I pressed myself into her touch even as I grabbed her wrist.

“Beau, I promise—”

She didn’t get to speak, because I kissed her, hard and wild, unbuttoning and unzipping my fly with one hand and bringing her palm inside my boxers with the other.
