Cover Reveal – Filthy English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

The BFF’s are bloody thrilled to bring you the cover reveal for Filthy English! This stand-alone is the follow-up to the Amazon #1 Best Seller and BFF Bestie Dirty English! We’re not so patiently awaiting Dax and Remi’s story! ❤️

A smokin’ hot British player…

A jilted girl…

One night of mistaken identity…

Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague’s fiancé drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.

She didn’t plan on attending a masquerade party.

She sure didn’t plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago—the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.

Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London.

But that’s damn hard to do when you live in the same house…

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

*A modern love story inspired by Romeo and Juliet*

WOW, what a year it has been for incredible books! We couldn’t let 2014 slip away without highlighting a few of our favorite reads.

BFF Book Blog 2014 Besties

BFF K’s 2014 Besties

Tie for #1

It was just too hard to choose my favorite between these amazing books! I loved the overall experience of reading Maybe Someday. The addition of the soundtrack made it such a complete and completely unique experience. Plus, BFF A and I had an incredible trip to Chicago to attend the concert/book signing. It’s one of my favorite books EVER!

The Collectors’ Society is one of the most unique books I’ve ever read! I adore everything about it and Alice truly has set a new standard that I hold for the very best in book heroines! The Hidden Library – Book 2 comes out in early 2015!

#2

Another top pick for its unique writing, incredible characters and 90’s pop culture references, I loved The Album by Ashley Pullo. Be sure to read the review AND our exclusive interview with the author!

#3

Another book with a KICK ASS heroine! I LOVE Kricket and Book #2, Sea of Stars is one of my most highly anticipated new releases for 2015!

 #4

What an emotional ride! I hid from this book like a big baby for weeks after it came out. I was seriously, legitimately, scared of a book. But, I didn’t need to be! This book was so wonderful and I’ve thought about passages and themes from this book countless times throughout the year!

#5

A Matter of Fate is one of my favorite series of all time! I absolutely love it! I have spent way too many hours thinking and dreaming about the characters in this series. A Matter of Forever was the perfect, beautiful, emotionally raw conclusion (we’re talking snot-filled ugly cry) to this series and one of my tops for 2014!

#6

This is the twisted book that I love to hate or hate to love, I’m still not sure! Either way, it’s one of the best I read this year.

#7

Like many friends, I’m always looking for books that will give me the same feels as 50 Shades of Grey! This series comes close AND it has a smoking hot race car driver!

 #8

The Deep End of the Sea is Medusa as you’ve never seen her before! I loved this modern twist on the classic mythology. And, everything Heather Lyons writes is impeccable!

#9

Reed. I should really just say that and move on. In 2014, he shot to the top of my Book Boyfriend list! I am loving this incredible storyline and can’t wait to finish the series in 2015.

#10

Lick, Play, Lead – I read them all in 2014 and I’m in love with the men of Stage Dive! These are super fun, rockstar romances filled with GREAT characters and LOL moments. Play is my fave in the series so far and Mal is definitely one of my top Book Boyfriends. (What can I say, I LOVE a guy who can make me laugh!)

BFF A’s 2014 Besties

I think I read more this year than I ever have in one year. Maybe it’s because I finally found books that intrigue me the most. Perhaps it’s because I have a purpose for reading more. I love talking to my BFF about books. I love instilling in my daughter the love of reading. I love that I can use a book to escape reality, even if for just a little bit. I hope to do more in 2015. More reading, more searching, more conversations, more focus.

It’s difficult to narrow down. There have been many books I have loved this year. I was able to immerse myself in the stories, become a part of the events and finish with serious book hangover. When I think back to those that I constantly talk about, those that brought out my emotions, and left me wanting more, these made it to the top of my list.

#1

I still have no words to describe the mind-twisting journey I took while reading this book. It is definitely at the top of my list for 2014.

#2

It’s the only book that I can remember reading twice, it’s that good! Traveling to Chicago with BFF K for the concert with Griffin and Colleen was icing on the cake!

#3

I cried. I never cry when reading. Anything that has my emotions show like that is fantastic.

#4

This was not a 2014 release, but it was a new read for me this year. The entire series is thrilling, but book 1 really gets you hooked into the characters, events, and makes you want more. The journey of Anthony and Claire will continue in January 2015 when Beyond the Consequences is released. I already have it ordered.

We thank you so much for coming along on the exciting book journey we’ve taken in 2014. We look forward to an incredible 2015 and we thank you for being our Book BFF’s!

REVIEW – Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter’s cheating on her–and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

Original music created for Maybe Someday by musician Griffin Peterson can be accessed through the website listed in the ebook and paperback.

BFF K’s Initial Reaction

This may be my most favorite ‘book experience’ EVER! I love music and I love reading. The thought of pulling both of those together made me very excited and this didn’t disappoint! I fell hook, line and bridge for Ridge and Sydney’s story. Being able to read about their shared experience and then listen to the songs ‘they wrote’ was an amazing, multi-sensory experience. The story is heartwarming, angst-filled and surprising. Griffin Peterson has somehow put not only the words of the songs to music, but captured the essence of the story in every song. Everything about Maybe Someday is incredible.

BFF A’s Initial Reaction

“There are only twenty-six letters in the English alphabet.  You would think there would be only so much you could do with twenty-six letters.  You would think there were only so many ways those letters could make you feel when mixed up and shoved together to make words.”

Those twenty-six letters, formed into words, immersed in the thoughts and feelings of Ridge and Sydney, mixed with the lyrics and music,…all of these things combined made the perfect experience when reading Maybe Someday.

Colleen continued to write short stories for friends and family until December of 2011, when she decided to write a long story she titled, “Slammed.” She self-published SLAMMED to Amazon in January, 2012 and it hit the NYT’s bestsellers list in May, 2012. She has since signed with Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, and now has six NYT’s bestsellers. REVIEW- Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

A’s initial reaction:

Have you heard the song “I Don’t Dance” by Lee Bryce?

“I don’t dance, But here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It Ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere
Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand
Cause, I don’t dance”

This lyrics fit perfectly with this book, because I don’t cry. Well, I do cry, just not when I read. I have never been one to have tears running down my face when a book is in my hand. BFF K is sure I have a heart of stone because books we both read, she will be sobbing.  Me on the other hand, maybe misty eyed or a single tear, but that’s it…until, Ugly Love beautifully written by Colleen Hoover. She wrote this book, had me in the palm of her hand and I cried. No, I sobbed.

Hearing the title Ugly Love, I thought, how can love be ugly? Isn’t love supposed to be wonderful? Full of hearts, cupid, romance, and lust? Ugly Love is absolutely perfect because it describes the most gut wrenching kind of love. Love that is mean, it hurts, it’s scary, it will rip your heart to shreds, but in the end, put it all back together, deepest kind of love. Colleen has a way of pulling you in, completely immersing you in the story to the point I didn’t care what my family was doing, or the fact that I stayed up most of the night to finish it in one day- what a book hangover that was!

K’s initial reaction:

If you’re like me and you’re scared to read this, don’t worry…You’ve got this!

I read so many reviews and comments about how much this book tore people’s hearts out. But, what they all forgot to say is that it is so beautifully written and lovely that it glues the pieces back together tighter than ever. It’s amazing and lovely and actually full of hope and wonderful-ness.

Are you like me and you’ve been a big chicken to start (or finish) this book? Get over yourself. Stop being a baby. Do it. Start now and don’t stop until the absolutely perfect, amazing, phenomenal conclusion.

This is the kind of book that will make you want to shout from the rooftops (and EVERY social media platform) to make sure no one misses out on this story.

Colleen Hoover is a freaking genius.

K’s Initial Reaction:

Have you ever been at a restaurant, taken a bite of your meal and then said, ‘you’ve got to taste this’? You probably do this if the dish is amazing, or horrible, or indescribable. That’s how I feel after finishing Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher. I think I love it, but I’m not sure, and you’ve GOT to try it! I’ve described it as similar to Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, but more gut wrenching. I spent so much of the book trying to figure out who kidnapped Senna and Isaac and when that mystery was solved I sailed through the rest too quickly. I just had to know how it ended. And then I was traumatized, but in the way that only the very best books can make your heart hurt! In my opinion, grab the tissues, the ending is a tear jerker.

A’s Initial Reaction:

The plot had my mind racing from beginning to end.  I flipped through each page, trying to think one step ahead and figure out the mystery only to be blown away when it was all uncovered.  I was exhausted after reading Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher and needed to take a vacation.  Partially because the plot wore me out, partially because I stayed up way past my bedtime to continue reading.  Once I recovered from this book’s hangover, it was quickly added to my all time Bestie list.

The story is complex, the characters are beautifully written and the story sucks you in from beginning to end. It’s the kind of story that will have you insisting your family eat pop tarts for lunch and drink CapriSun (because they can get those things themselves without your help!)

Honestly, we had put off starting this book, but when Colleen Hoover makes a recommendation, you just have to go with it. We’re so happy that we put it on the TBR list. And, be sure to check out the soul stirring play list on Spotify!

When it was all over, here’s what K sent to A:

K to A: I don’t know if that was one of the best books I’ve ever read or one of the worst.

We may be conflicted, but it is still a 5 overall!
