About the Author

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball’s biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette’s impressionable brain from a young age. This is a perfect, light-hearted, super fun, brain-candy-read that you won’t want to put down!

Her gaze dropped down to my chest and her eyes slightly widened as if she was just realizing there was a half-naked man right in front of her. When her eyes started to trail lower, my skin prickled and I had to fight with my body to not react to her beautiful wandering eyes. “I…I should take a shower first so I’ll just…” Her eyes jumped between my eyes and collarbone. “I’ll head to the other room and grab…my things. I’ll be right back.” She patted my arm and ran away.

Chuckling, I got into bed.

Twenty minutes had passed when she finally put her knee on the right side of the bed and climbed up next to me. There was too much space between our bodies for us to ever come in contact, but instead of lying on the very edge of the bed like I was doing, she quietly got under the covers and settled in the middle.

I tensed.

Maybe she just wanted to lay in the middle so we could share the covers without having to pull on them? Or maybe she was a turner, and to avoid tumbling down, she needed to fall asleep far away from the edge? Either way, I would stay on my side so it was okay.

Everything would be fine.

Another ten minutes passed and thanks to Olive’s tossing and turning, I was still wide awake.

Every single time she turned, moved, fluffed her pillow, or quietly sighed, my body got a reminder of her presence and of course acted accordingly. Hell, even her breathing was starting to get to me.

Groaning, I turned to my right to see her back facing me.

“Jas—” she started to whisper, but before she could finish my name, I reached out, splayed my hand on her stomach—thank god she was at least wearing something—and pulled her back against my chest.

She gasped and her body stilled. For a moment, I didn’t know what I should do with my hand, but then I decided to rest my palm on the bed, still keeping my arm against her stomach, caging her in. At least this way she would stop tossing and turning and we would finally go to sleep.

“Jason? Are you sleeping?” she whispered, not turning her head.

“What do you think?” I muttered.

“Sorry. I can leave if you want—”

My chest still cushioning her back, I pulled my hips a few inches back—just to make sure she wouldn’t feel anything she wasn’t supposed to feel—and gave her body a gentle tug with my arm.

“Go to sleep, Olive.”

“Oh, okay,” she murmured.

A few minutes later, just when I was about to fall asleep, she started to wiggle her bottom. The little minx managed to rest her ass right above my dick. One wrong move and my already raging dick would have been resting right against her round, shapely ass—not that I had spent much time looking at it…

While her breathing had deepened shortly after she’d made sure her ass was perfectly placed to torture me, it took me hours to fall asleep, battling with the urge to move forward, just a few inches, just to let my dick cop a feel.

I’m an avid reader. Therefore, a big dreamer. I love nothing more than to escape real life to find those very few magical moments in a book. I love how it has the power of stealing your worries away, putting a smile on your face, and of course sometimes making you crush on fictional characters. If I can manage to do even one of those things for a reader, I will be a happy writer.

I can’t even begin to describe how exciting it is to give life to new characters and fall for them. It’s a different kind of addiction I’m determined to keep alive.

I’m still searching for my own happy ending. Until that happens, I’ll live vicariously through my own characters.

Duo Review – Indebted by Amy A. Bartol

I hang my head in sorrow for just a moment when I know I am truly alone. I feel like I’m going to my execution, just as he had said. Then I move forward again. I hop a fence of fieldstone and cross a field dotted with Queen Anne’s lace. Goose bumps rise on my arms as I pass the cluster of windmills that I have seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon me in visions. I gaze down the hill, beyond the small, whitewashed house that I knew would be there. The church looms dark and grim with its rough-hewn, timber façade, capped by tall, oblong spires reaching to the sky. Black, ominous clouds have collected above the roofline, as if Heaven is showing me the way.

Evie opens up a whole can of new abilities in Book #3 AND her inherent need to protect those she loves is the driving force in her decisions in this installment of the Premonition series.

Brennus is still hanging out causing trouble and there is a whole cast of new creatures and nightmares. This book includes more narration from Russell’s point of view. It is so interesting to see things as they unfold but from a different perspective.

Reed realizes that his attempts to protect Evie sometimes leave her at a disadvantage and they will reevaluate some aspects of their relationship. Evie is evolving and developing, she’s learning about her strengths and just what she is capable of doing and being.

There’s drama and tons of character development. This is the book that moves so many of the storylines forward and further uncovers the story of Evie’s mission and everyone else’s role in that plot.

“So, you’re looking forward to the week, then?” I ask expectantly, while the palm of my hand gently rubs the zipper-tight area of his pants. God, he’s so hard. I remind myself to not focus too much on what exactly I’m doing. Except thanks to the way his cock twitches ever so slightly every time I rub, I have trouble putting together a coherent thought. My thoughts are like a broken record, stuck on repeat. Giant cock … giant cock … giant cock…

“Very much so,” he replies, the “so” stretching into a hissing sound. His eyes connect with mine, and I see the intensity that’s behind them. Book #2 in the Premonition series introduces us to the most controversial of all characters in this series. Meet Brennus. There are few other characters that elicit such strong responses. Most readers either love Brennus or hate him, but even those that hate him are still drawn to him.

It is so hard to talk about all of the incredible things that happen in this book without just spilling our guts and giving away the entire book!

Evie is determined to protect those she loves and she will protect them to the death if she has to. The butterflies between Reed and Evie are still flying and there is a MAJOR development in their relationship at the end of Intuition. <3 <3 <3

Russell, Buns, Brownie and Zee are all playing their parts to protect and guide Evie in unraveling and completing her mission.

This book is full of action and some MAJOR romance. Evie is coming into her own and discovering her own powers and purposes.

BFF K’s Review of Give & Take by Daisy Prescott

Reading Give and Take is like coming home from a long day to put on your comfiest jammies and curl up in front of the fireplace with a mug of your favorite hot cocoa!  Give and Take finds us back on Whidbey Island for the holidays and many many of our cast favorites from the Modern Love Stories series make appearances. And, there are so many changes. One couple is having a baby and one couple is getting a puppy. There’s an engagement and visits from old friends.

There is no shortage of feel-good-moments in this short story! It is packed with sweet scenes and warm fuzzies. It’s great to see so many of our favorite characters back in action, and there are a few new ones stirred into the mix. <<Attention Daisy Prescott – Please let one of the Kelso Brothers get a full-length story soon!>>

The book is told from multiple POV’s so it flows quite quickly. The only problem I have with Give and Take is that there isn’t sooo much more!

“You go by Chris?”

“It’s an acceptable nickname for Christian.” The owner of the name snatches his glass of champagne back, chugging the rest of the drink. Naturally, this promptly sets off another round of coughing.

Parker is now the one to smack Christian’s back, and I am grateful because I most certainly do not need to be touching him again, even if in a life-saving gesture.

“Maybe so,” I murmur as Christian, rapidly turning redder from what surely must be embarrassment more than alcohol down the wrong pipe, shoves his friend’s hand away. “But it doesn’t fit.”

“If I might be so bold to ask, Your Highness, how so?” Parker inquires at the same time Christian wheezes, “What does that mean?”

I side skirt the men to claim a chocolate covered strawberry from the dessert table. “Chris is a boring name.”

“I believe you’ve just issued an unforgiveable insult to all the Chrises in the world,” Christian says flatly while Parker struggles to hold in his mirth.

“Of course I haven’t. I simply said Chris is a boring name. Look at Elsa; it is a hopelessly old-fashioned name you find in old women who bake streusel. My parents aged me the moment I came out of the womb.” I point the zebra-striped berry at my sparring partner. “Now that is unforgiveable. You were given a nice name and have elected to make it boring when it doesn’t suit you one bit.”

Too much silence expands between us; I am tricked into looking up at him once more. One of his dark eyebrows arches upward. “Are you saying you don’t find me boring?”

Did I? Oh, bollocks. I did, didn’t I? I clear my throat and smile winsomely. “Just because I don’t wish to marry you doesn’t mean I find you boring as a bag of rocks.”

Both of his eyebrows shoot up, as if I informed him grass is blue and sky is green. As if he doesn’t already know he’s interesting. Please. Must I remind him of all the glossies dedicated to his comings and goings?

“When we were children, His Highness was teased quite a bit about his name,” Parker tells me.

I toss the strawberry stem back onto the table; it’s whisked up by a passing waiter in less than a second. “What! Why?”

“I’m named after a religion,” Christian grinds out. “There was Prince Jew. Prince Muslim. Prince Buddhist. Prince Hindu. Prince Zoroastrian. There were lots of choices, you see.”

Another moment I want nothing more than to just laugh and laugh. “How delightful. Now, those nicknames aren’t boring. Sacrilegious, yes, but definitely not boring.”

“You have a seed in your front teeth,” is Christian’s response.

“You are a veritable Prince Charming, publically pointing out women’s flaws. How chivalrous of you.”

It is annoying how much I like that he refuses to appear properly chastised.
