Review – Stay With Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout

At 21, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should.   She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought shed left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from they moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

rating_5_80

Oh Jax! He’s an absolutely incredible, swoon worthy, alpha male! Calla is a really fantastic female character, she’s been dealt a pretty crumby hand in life. But, I particularly appreciated the way that Calla recognized she could not fix all of the problems in her life alone. Like most novels in this genre there are a couple of misunderstandings that leave you shaking your head. But, it was remarkably free of too many of those moments.

I loved getting to know Jax and Calla and their cast of friends. (Katie the future-seeing-stripper completely cracked me up!) If you’ve read the other Wait for You novels, you’ll be thrilled to see a few key visits from Cam and Avery and Jase and Tess. And, the new characters introduced in this book make me anxious for the next in the series (Fall With Me, March 2015)

Like all of the Wait for You series, there is a little bit of mystery and suspense in this book that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can as late as you can! You will not regret picking up this book and letting Jax have a spot on your Book Boyfriend List!

REVIEW – As Long As You Love Me by Ann Aguirre

As Long As You Love Me

Amazon | B&N iTunes

AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME Synopsis:

Most people dream about getting out of Sharon, Nebraska, but after three years away, Lauren Barrett is coming home. There are the justifications she gives to everyone else—missing her family, losing her college scholarship. And then there’s the reason Lauren can’t admit to anyone: Rob Conrad, her best friend’s older brother.

Football prowess and jaw-dropping good looks made Rob a star in high school. Out in the real world, his job and his relationships are going nowhere. He can’t pinpoint exactly what’s missing until Lauren comes back to town, bringing old feelings and new dreams with her. But he’s the guy that women love and leave—not the one who makes them think of forever.

Though she’s terrified of opening up, Lauren’s ready to take that chance. Because the only thing more important than figuring out where you truly belong is finding the person you were meant to be with.

BFF K’s Review

rating_4_80I’ll be honest…..I asked to be a part of this blog tour because the heroine in this book is from Nebraska. NEBRASKA! I’m a Nebraska-Girl and I could NOT pass up the chance to read a book that is set in our state. BONUS: the series is fun, sweet and a delight to read!

Lauren and Rob have a charming story with some unexpected twists and turns. Both Rob and Lauren are flawed, but their flaws are much more vivid internally than externally. Their relationship allows both of them grow and mature into better versions of themselves. I really liked that the relationship was equal, built on shared history and seemed really healthy for both of them.

There were some very sweet, semi-steamy scenes that seemed perfect for the story. I even liked the peripheral stories about Lauren’s friends and family. This is a GREAT read and I can’t wait until the next book in the series!

REVIEW – I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she’s determined to make them come true. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, dating’s the last thing on her mind. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….

Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can’t risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, the last thing he wants is noisy students living in the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia’s and Ty’s paths cross, and soon they can’t stay away from each other.

The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can’t know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

BFF K’s Review

rating_4_80

Ahhhh, Nadia and Ty! What a wonderful little love story! Nadia is a hard-working, nose to the grindstone, college student. She’s the star of the family and feels the pressure of performing up to everyone’s expectations. She moves into a new apartment and is drawn to the handsome guy in the downstairs apartment. (Warning, this book may or may not have you googling “Hot Ginger Men”… Just saying!)

The way that Nadia and Ty meet and get to know one another is very sweet and you’ll enjoy reading about their burgeoning friendship. Nadia soon finds herself in the middle of Ty’s life no matter how hard he tries to keep her on the edges. There is some angst over this issue, but it resolves into a touching and wonderful Happily Ever After! And, perhaps it’s just the mom-side of me, but there’s something about a hot guy caring for his adorable son; it’s one of those things that practically makes the ovaries explode!

You’ll also appreciate the way that Aguirre sets up the characters for the next books in the series!

Review – Tell Me You Love Me by Julie Prestsater

Unknown

Blurb:

Stay. Stay with me. Stay here. Stay close. Stay like this forever. Stay as happy as I am right here in your arms, always.

* * *

All I’ve ever wanted was to be loved, but if this is what true love is…I’m not so sure I want it anymore. It also makes me wonder if any of my memories of our once happy marriage are even real. Maybe I just conjured up the fairy tale in my head because I wanted…no…needed it so much. Who the hell knows?

“Molly just called to remind you about your book club meeting this afternoon.” He turns away. “I told her you’ve never missed a meeting and I doubt today would be any different.”

The door shuts behind him before I let a smile creep across my lips. Instantly, the hurt from this morning flees my mind and I feel nothing but giddiness. I have a book club meeting today, and let’s just say it’s not your everyday book club.

Sure, my husband may never truly love me again…but who needs love when you’re about to get an eyeful of hot firemen?

* * *

Tell Me You Love Me is the first in a four-book series called Fire Me Up—a sweet romantic comedy series about a group of sassy neighborhood women who have a serious love for steamy romance novels and sexy firemen. Lucky for them the local firehouse is just a few steps away and is in no shortage of hot firefighters to fill their wild imaginations.

Have you ever watched a movie about the making of a movie or a play about putting on a play? That’s what it was like reading a book about a book club! These girls are fun and sassy and sweet. They care about one another, support one another and love steamy books and hot firemen. I totally wanna join their book club. They would definitely make our BFF list!

I loved the story of Ryan and Lizzy. Lizzy’s character really experiences a personal transformation and it was one that I enjoyed reading. Ryan was just a great guy, the kind of guy you would want for any BFF who has been through a rough patch in life!

For me, this was the perfect book at the perfect time. It’s a quick read, light and fun, with characters you’ll really enjoy getting to know and look forward to spending more time with!

REVIEW – Reluctantly Royal by Nichole Chase

Maxwell Jameson Trevor, prince of Lilaria, hates his royal role. Despising the limelight, he takes solace in his art studio and steers clear of any drama. But when one of the newly discovered royals passes away, Maxwell’s brother Alex asks him to break the news to the old man’s granddaughter. Though he hates to be the bearer of doom and gloom, he doesn’t want the poor girl to find out from the tabloids. For Maxwell knows all too well how devastating that could be.

Coming from a broken home and modest background, newly ordained Lady Meredith Thysmer has seized her chance to make a better life for herself and her son. She’s not afraid to use her best assets to get what she wants. But when the unpretentious yet devastatingly handsome Max delivers his news, her plans for the future come crashing to a halt. In the challenging days ahead, Max’s compassion, humor, and steadfast loyalty to Meredith and her son win her over. She quickly finds herself doing something she swore would never happen again: falling in love. And yet Maxwell still refuses to completely drop his guard. Somehow Meredith’s got to find a way to seduce this reluctant royal.

When I saw the opportunity to participate in the Release Day for Reluctantly Royal, I hadn’t yet read any of the books in the series. I went ahead and signed up because the descriptions of the series sounded so fun. I bought Suddenly Royal and fell in love with the characters and the story lines! Then, I dove right into Recklessly Royal and had to wait weeks for Reluctantly Royal.

So, I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to acquire an Advance Reader Copy of Reluctantly Royal. I downloaded it right away and flew through the entire book in 24 hours. It was fantastic, everything I hoped for and MORE! This is by far my FAVORITE book in the Royals series. I am absolutely in love with Max. He’s strong, smart, loving, caring, protective, artistic and evolving….he’s completely dreamy! Then you have Meredith. She’s strong, passionate, driven, compassionate, independent and strong. She’s a fantastic heroine and didn’t annoy me. Ever. Not even once. (And that’s saying something, sometimes even great female characters get on my nerves.) I loved everything about her!

I have literally had dreams about Meredith and Max (and Marty) in Lilaria. I’m completely sucked into their wonderful world. Though I’m not really one for re-reading books, I think this might be one that I will read again. By far the best in the series and such a wonderful read!

REVIEW – Recklessly Royal by Nichole Chase

Catherine has spent her life being the perfect princess. She’s kept her hands clean, her head down, and most importantly—men at arm’s length. After all, most men are after only one thing, and for Cathy there’s a lot more at stake than her bed; she has to worry about the fate of an entire nation. But at the rate she’s going, Cathy is afraid she’ll give the Virgin Queen a run for her money. She is tired of waiting for someone good enough to come along. She has a plan, and it all hinges on seducing the one man who seems utterly unimpressed by all things royal. The one man she is tempted by more than any other . . .

When David arrives at the royal wedding of his friend, the newly ordained Duchess Samantha Rousseau, he expects to feel uncomfortable and out of his element, but he isn’t prepared to be targeted by Prince Alex’s gorgeous younger sister. With Cathy’s giant blue eyes, killer figure, and sense of humor, it won’t take long before he gives in. But when he finds out just how innocent the crown princess really is, will he play the part of knight in shining armor or the dashing rogue?

BFF K’s Review

I really loved this second book in Nichole Chase’s Royals series. Cathy is an absolute sweetheart. She’s a sweet, loving, pure character that you will desperately want to find true love. The opening scene at Sam’s bachelorette party is a total riot! You can’t help but find Cathy so endearing from that moment forward. David is a good guy. Just a genuinely good guy. The scenes are all so well written that I got butterflies when the two were together! Recklessly Royal actually has a pretty good villain too! (You’ll know her when you see her!) Enjoy this wonderful continuation of the Royals Series!

REVIEW – Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working on a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed . . .

As crown prince of Lilaria, Alex D’Lynsal has had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures in the press have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news. While Sam tries to navigate her new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.

REVIEW – Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter’s cheating on her–and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

Original music created for Maybe Someday by musician Griffin Peterson can be accessed through the website listed in the ebook and paperback.

BFF K’s Initial Reaction

This may be my most favorite ‘book experience’ EVER! I love music and I love reading. The thought of pulling both of those together made me very excited and this didn’t disappoint! I fell hook, line and bridge for Ridge and Sydney’s story. Being able to read about their shared experience and then listen to the songs ‘they wrote’ was an amazing, multi-sensory experience. The story is heartwarming, angst-filled and surprising. Griffin Peterson has somehow put not only the words of the songs to music, but captured the essence of the story in every song. Everything about Maybe Someday is incredible.

BFF A’s Initial Reaction

“There are only twenty-six letters in the English alphabet.  You would think there would be only so much you could do with twenty-six letters.  You would think there were only so many ways those letters could make you feel when mixed up and shoved together to make words.”

Those twenty-six letters, formed into words, immersed in the thoughts and feelings of Ridge and Sydney, mixed with the lyrics and music,…all of these things combined made the perfect experience when reading Maybe Someday.

REVIEW – Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

Hopeless was Sky’s story. Now, in Losing Hope, we finally learn the truth about Dean Holder.

Haunted by the little girl he couldn’t save from imminent danger, Holder’s life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. He has never stopped searching for her, believing that finding her would bring him the peace he needs to move on. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnect.

In Losing Hope, Holder reveals the way in which the events of Sky’s youth affected him and his family, leading him to seek his own redemption in the act of saving her. But it is only in loving Sky that he can finally begin to heal himself.

As soon as I finished Hopeless, literally as soon as I finished! I 1-clicked Losing Hope. This is Hopeless from Holder’s POV. Although you know the story, seeing it through Dean’s eyes and understanding his motivations and internal dialogue gives the story a whole new perspective. I adore both of these books and can’t imagine one existing without the other. Just when you think you can’t love Holder (or Sky) any more…..there’s Losing Hope!

REVIEW- Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

BFF Duo Review BFF A & BFF K

A’s initial reaction:

Have you heard the song “I Don’t Dance” by Lee Bryce?

“I don’t dance, But here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It Ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere
Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand
Cause, I don’t dance”

This lyrics fit perfectly with this book, because I don’t cry. Well, I do cry, just not when I read. I have never been one to have tears running down my face when a book is in my hand. BFF K is sure I have a heart of stone because books we both read, she will be sobbing.  Me on the other hand, maybe misty eyed or a single tear, but that’s it…until, Ugly Love beautifully written by Colleen Hoover. She wrote this book, had me in the palm of her hand and I cried. No, I sobbed.

Hearing the title Ugly Love, I thought, how can love be ugly? Isn’t love supposed to be wonderful? Full of hearts, cupid, romance, and lust? Ugly Love is absolutely perfect because it describes the most gut wrenching kind of love. Love that is mean, it hurts, it’s scary, it will rip your heart to shreds, but in the end, put it all back together, deepest kind of love. Colleen has a way of pulling you in, completely immersing you in the story to the point I didn’t care what my family was doing, or the fact that I stayed up most of the night to finish it in one day- what a book hangover that was!

K’s initial reaction:

If you’re like me and you’re scared to read this, don’t worry…You’ve got this!

I read so many reviews and comments about how much this book tore people’s hearts out. But, what they all forgot to say is that it is so beautifully written and lovely that it glues the pieces back together tighter than ever. It’s amazing and lovely and actually full of hope and wonderful-ness.

Are you like me and you’ve been a big chicken to start (or finish) this book? Get over yourself. Stop being a baby. Do it. Start now and don’t stop until the absolutely perfect, amazing, phenomenal conclusion.

This is the kind of book that will make you want to shout from the rooftops (and EVERY social media platform) to make sure no one misses out on this story.

Colleen Hoover is a freaking genius.
