Episode 5 sets up just like the next to last episode of a good TV show. I have a feeling the groundwork is laid for an explosive season finale! In this episode, I LOVED the interactions of Bear and Skyler. They’re my favorite non-couple-couple! And, I continue to be frustrated with Adam and Skyler. They like each other and might be a fine pairing. But Skyler and Adam aren’t willing to commit to each other and Adam just won’t leave Cassie alone. He’s messing with her head whether he means to or not. But, there were great advancements in the stories for both Ashlei and Jess and Jarrett. I’m anxious to see how this season ends – just one more week to go until the final episode of season 1!

“Are you okay?”

“Peachy,” I remark, snatching my board from the ground. The quick motion of bending over and standing upright again sends me spinning and Jarrett’s hands find my waist to steady me again. “My phone on the other hand, not so much.”

At that, Jarrett’s lips twitch into a devilish smirk. “It was a necessary casualty.”

My heartbeat quickens and my mouth feels like I swallowed cotton. I know Jarrett can sense it. He feels my nerves. He can feel me trembling. I know, because he’s smirking wider now, his dark eyes hooded in a mixture of lust and amusement. When he bites his lower lip and drags his teeth along the tender flesh, my eyes flutter closed before I realize what I’m doing.

“I can buy you a replacement, if you’d like,” he adds, but he says it huskily and I know it’s on purpose. “We could go to the mobile store on campus after class Wednesday.”

“It’s fine,” I say, snapping out of my trance. “It’s already being fixed.” Why is my voice shaking? Why am I staring at him like he’s stark ass naked instead of fully clothed in a tight gray t-shirt and basketball shorts? Wait… he’s wearing basketball shorts? My eyes fall lower and I can clearly see the outline of him straining beneath them.

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

Really? Like really?

Welcome to my Tuesday obsession! I’m kind of getting addicted to the Palm South University stories. I’m loving these characters and their over the top college experiences. The Palm South University series is a fast-paced character driven read that’s like devouring your favorite reality TV episode – in book format! I was thrilled that this week’s episode focused on some of my most favorites. Cassie and Skyler each have their own take on Adam and I love the way this is playing out as the episodes build. But, Jessica and Jarrett! Holy hotness – I LOVE this couple. I want to read a whole book just about them. This week’s episode is Halloween, so you know it’s full of some fun, steamy surprises and it’s my favorite episode so far in the season!

The corners of his mouth curl into a devilish grin as my eyes wander across his skin. “You think a mermaid could dance with a lifeguard?” he asks, quirking a brow.

“Well, I did pass over the part where I have a tail and skipped straight to the legs.”

“And what incredible legs they are,” he husks, allowing his own eyes to devour my body now. Clay grabs my hand and pulls me out onto the dance floor before I have the chance to say anything further. As I turn away from him and we grind our bodies to the beat, I catch Adam staring at me from where Skyler and the girls are gathered. His brows are furrowed, his mouth pursed, and he looks like he wants to either kill me or save me.

Suddenly, the butterflies are back.

Palm South University provides another action-packed episode in this serial! This episode was packed full of twists and turns and “OMG, I can’t believe they just did that” moments! I’m more than a little frustrated. I want Bear to open up and let someone in on his personal drama. I want to kick Adam and Skyler where it hurts. And, I want to shake Lei for being so reckless.

But, more than that, I just want the next installment! Can’t wait until next week for episode 4!

Excerpt

“Stay with me tonight,” Hayden whispers into the back of my neck just as I pull a loose white t-shirt over my sports bra. He wraps his arms around my middle and pulls me back into him, pressing his hard on against my ass and forcing me to exhale a long, needy breath.

“I can’t,” I turn toward him, wrapping my arms around his neck. “I have class early in the morning and a sisterhood event tomorrow night. I have to get some sleep or I’m not going to make it.

“Sleep is overrated.” He holds me tighter and nips up my neck to my earlobe, pulling it between his teeth. Hissing, I place my hands on his chest and try to put distance between us.

“You’re killing me.”

“I could be pleasuring you if you’d come home with me.”

You had me at “Eskimo Sisters”! (I was absolutely dying laughing at this part!) The PSU Series is like fluffy, mind-candy, reality TV in book form. I accept it for what it is and I LOVE it all the way! I’m absolutely all-in when it comes to the Palm South University series! I am loving reading these short little episodes that follow the lives and drama of the PSU crew. There are parts that remind me of my college days, only with palm trees, an ocean and a lot more steam!

“Fuck,” she curses as I slam her back against my bedroom door. “Easy, Bear.”

I suck and bite down her neck and toss her onto my bed with ease, pulling my shirt up and over my head at the same time. “I’m not doing easy tonight, babe. You either get me hard and rough or you don’t get me at all. Your choice.”

It seems a little silly to state the obvious, but I’ll do it anyway! It’s very easy to picture this serial story as a television series! Palm South University – Season 1 – Episode 1 gives a glimpse into several of the characters in little snippets. The story is set on a college campus in a fictional greed system. As a sorority member during my college days, I find some of the comments familiar and some a bit over-the-top. But, the familiarity will keep me coming back for the next episodes!

You can get an even more in-depth look at Skyler in Black Number 4. After reading Black Number 4, I was curious about all of the other characters at PSU and excited for this unique and clever way to develop the story. I flew through Season 1 – Episode 1 in about an hour. I am intrigued by Bear and his family drama and I’m dying to know what is up with Jess! I’m anxiously looking forward to seeing what happens in the next episode.

Excerpt

After I finish my first drink and order another, I wander up to the group of guys at the pool table. We play for a little over an hour, drawing an even larger crowd because – clearly – we’re the most fun this joint has seen in a while. I’m cozied up and working on one of the hottest guys in the group when he informs me he has a fiancé.

Wow.

Buzz Killington, ladies and gentlemen.

I hang out with the group a little longer, hoping to move on to a new prospect, but they all head out before I have a chance to seal the deal with any of Mr. I’m-Engaged-But-You-Don’t-Need-To-Know-That-Until-It’s-Clear-You-Expect-To-Sleep-With-Me’s friends. Sighing, I take my place in the same barstool as before and Jarrett slides a fifth drink my way.

I hold up my hands. “I should probably say no this time. It’s almost closing time and I need to drive.”

“Not necessarily,” he offers. I eye him curiously and the corner of his mouth pulls up mischievously. He finishes wiping down a glass and hangs it above his head before leaning across the bar, his minty breath tickling my drunken senses. “You’ve been trying all night to get with that douchebag when I could have told you from the beginning that he wasn’t available. And now, you’re left with an ache between your legs that you don’t want to take care of on your own. So yes, you could drive home, get up and go to work tomorrow and just try again another night. Or,” he pauses, licking his bottom lip and dragging his teeth across the top as his eyes fall to my mouth. “You could give me your keys, jump in my truck, and let me take you back to my place so I can cure you of your current situation.”

Oh hell to the fucking yes.

Excerpt from Black Number Four

There are three things you should know about me.
One, I can read a bluff like a neon street sign. Everyone gives themselves away in some form of a twitch or another, and after a few rounds at the table with me, I can guarantee I’ll know yours. So, throw your best fake smile or confident wink at me, but just know I can see right through you – and we both know there’s no sense in betting all your chips with nothing but a Jack high in your hands.
Two, I have the best poker face in the game. I’ll make you think you’re reading me, show a little sign of being nervous maybe or bite my lip in anticipation of the river, but it’s all part of the plan. I’m building you up to expect the wind to blow one way just so I can pull out an industrial size fan and send your shit flying just the opposite. And if by chance you do get to me, you won’t know – because I don’t let it show, not even a little. If anything, I’ll make you think you actually played right into my hand – making you the nervous one, in turn. The key to a killer poker face is to strip your soul of all emotion and show only what you purposefully want the other person to see. And trust me – I’m the lead singer in the band of No Emotion.
Number three and, perhaps, the most important thing to know about me is this: I know when to fold. I know when to hang in tough, when to push my luck, when to bluff my ass out of a tight situation and when to throw the cards down and run as fast as I can in the other direction. In poker and in life, it’s all about knowing the game you’re playing and how you stand up to the competition. And pace – you have to know when to push and when to sit back and let it ride. Now don’t get me wrong – I hate throwing in the towel as much as any other competitive, adrenaline chasing poker junkie, but I’ve learned even in my short time in the game that there are some hands you just don’t mess with… some cards that forever trump others.
All three of these things are true. If you asked any sports reporter, any poker analyst, any pro standing around watching the final table of this tournament right now – they would tell you all three of these things about me and maybe add in a few notes of their own. Which is why I can’t understand why my hands are trembling, why my skin is slick with a film of sweat as I drop any shred of a poker face I have left and push the remainder of my chips forward – toward the one person who managed to get under my skin, to break me down, to change the game, to flip me on my ass and toss every rule I’ve ever had into a massive wood chipper, leaving me with nothing but the shavings.
The last thing I see before I close my eyes and give one final push of the chips toward the center of the table are the burning blue eyes that will forever haunt me, forever remind me that – even when we think we have a game completely mastered – there’s always the possibility that Chance and his brother, Luck, will show up and utterly screw everything.
“All in.”
